Directorate is accountable to the Vice-President for Administration and Students’ Affair, performing the following major activities
- Electric Maintenance Works: – Performs electrical maintenance and repair work; install/replace fixtures, switches, receptacles and wiring.
- Plumbing Maintenance Works: – Perform general maintenance and repair of potable and recycled water transmission and distribution systems.
- Wood and Building Works Maintenance
- Perform cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping etc.
- Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
- Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
- Install appliances and equipment.
- Carpentry and Joinery Works: – Constructs and repairs structural woodwork and equipment in establishment, working from blueprints, drawings, or oral instructions: Builds, repairs, and installs counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework, and trim, using carpenter’s handtools and power tools.
- Painting Works:- Preparing painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, or removing old paint. Mixing, matching, and applying paints and other finishes to various surfaces. Providing decorative and faux finishes as the project requires.
- Contract Administration and Supervision Works
- Overseeing contractors’ planning, organization and execution of contracts.
- Review, approval and monitoring of contractors’ construction schedules.
- Review and verification of contractor’s interim payment certificates and change orders and assessment of contractors’ claims for additional work
- Review and verification of contractors’ guarantees and insurances.
- Monitoring the progress of works and ensuring that construction is in compliance with the contract drawings, schedules and specifications>
- Ensuring adequate quality control of the executed works.
- Labor Works: –
- Cleaning and preparing construction sites.
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
- Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures.
- Digging trenches, compacting earth and backfilling holes.
